Outcomes

What your child will be able to do.

The Yellow belt has two parts: January to June, then a summer session. Together they earn the belt.

By June

  • Measure and convert anything, from nano to giga, showing every step.
  • Build scientific graphs and read their slopes as rates.
  • Calculate and predict motion, from free fall to their own reaction time.
  • Use Newton’s laws to explain seat belts, elevators, rockets and the human body.
  • Track energy and power, from a stair climb to the Calories on a food label.
  • Explain density, cells and chemical change with evidence.
  • Design a fair experiment, then present and defend the result.

By the end of the summer session

  • Use momentum to explain collisions and safety design.
  • Explain how waves carry sound and light.
  • Build circuits and predict current with Ohm’s law.
  • Read the periodic table and explain how atoms combine in reactions.
  • Study cells under a microscope, and explain heredity and ecosystems.
  • Pass the Yellow belt exam.

How to join

Four steps to the first class.

  1. Join the list

It takes about a minute. We’ll send open house and placement test details.

  2. Come to the open house

Meet us, see a sample class and ask your questions.

  3. Take the placement test

In December. Results within a week.

  4. Register and start

The first class is in January 2027.

Questions parents ask

Straight answers.

Does my child need to attend the summer session?

Yes. The Yellow belt runs January to June plus a summer session, and the belt exam comes at the end of the summer.

What does tuition include?

[What tuition covers, such as the student workbook and lab materials]

How big are the classes?

About 10 students, so the instructor knows every student’s work.

Can my child try a class first?

The open house includes a sample class. [Trial-class policy, if any]

What if my child misses a class?

Every class has complete written notes, worked examples and homework in the student workbook, so a student can catch up at home. The instructor checks in the next week.

What is your refund policy?

[Refund policy]

Is there a sibling discount?

[Sibling policy]

What if the homework is too hard?

Problems are tiered. Core problems are for everyone; stretch problems are a challenge, and an honest attempt counts. Students bring their questions to the next class.

Is my child being ranked?

No. Unit tests measure mastery, not rank, and retakes are normal. Progress reports describe what your child can do and what to work on next.

How much screen time is involved?

Very little. Phones are used as measuring tools in a few at-home activities, and every one has a no-phone option.

How is Sci5 different from school science?

More depth, more math, a hands-on experiment every class, and advancement by mastery rather than age. Students also present their solutions, which builds confidence explaining ideas.
